To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of La Vergne, various events and commemorative gifts will be held in 2022. The actual date of establishment of New York City is February 1, 1972.
Posts will be regularly posted on La Vergne's official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages to let the public know about the planned activities and gifts. More information about each event and giveaway will be released throughout the year.
First, starting in mid-December, the City Hall will provide a special commemorative calendar for you to pick up. Supply is limited.
A special registration reception will be held on February 1st to celebrate the actual registration date in the city. Before the monthly meeting of the mayor and councillors, there will be refreshments and several speakers in the city hall meeting room.
In March, the park department will host a special Happy Anniversary Run 5K. Those who wish to participate in 5K along the Hurricane Creek Greenway will also receive 50th Anniversary Medals.
In April, citizens will be able to go to the City Hall and collect special challenge coins commemorating the 50th anniversary. Supply is limited.
In conjunction with the Block Party in May, a Corn Hole Championship will also be held, and the winning team will receive a special anniversary award.
In June, New York City will host an anniversary picnic at the Veterans Memorial Park. The event will include activities that the whole family will enjoy.
In July, citizens can receive a souvenir keychain. Supply is limited.
In August, local elected officials and politicians were invited to bury a new time capsule somewhere in New York City, and the staff planned to discover it again on the 100th anniversary of the founding of New York City.
The 2022 Seniors Festival, which is scheduled to be held on September 17th, will also celebrate its 50th anniversary and encourage parade participants to create and design floats commemorating La Vergne's past.
There will be an anniversary dancing in the park during the first week of October, with live bands and food trucks at the Veterans Memorial Park.
Throughout the year, citizens and city workers will be able to submit recipes that will be considered for the November La Vergne community cookbook. This will only be downloaded as a digital.
Finally, the first weekend of December will be the annual Festival of Lights and Winter Festival. This year there will be a special gift-50th anniversary commemorative accessories in 2022! Supply is limited.
